THE SWANSON-GALDES WEDDING

Katherine Swanson and Kevin Galdes tied the knot at Pelican Bay at Lucaya March 14th, 2009.

Some 57 guests from Detroit, Chicago, Boston, San Antonio, Houston, Virginia Beach joined the Chicago couple for a weekend away at Pelican Bay at Lucaya.

A Welcome Party at Sabor Pool gathered guests for a get acquainted reception on arrival evening. Following the reception, the group danced the evening away at Ibiza, a Latin extravaganza at Sabor Restaurant and Bar. Guest daytime activities included snorkeling and trips to Taino Beach via complimentary ferry boat shuttle. Guests boasted that the wedding weekend was "the best vacation they have ever had."

Kevin and Katie chose Pelican Bay "because of its secluded, tropical feel and unique European architecture." Also contributing to The Bahamas as being a "must" for Katie's wedding was that it holds fond memories as her family visited the islands many times over years.

Katie recommends a Pelican Bay for an intimate and fun celebration. The couple particularly enjoyed the speed and convenience with which the wedding arrangements were made… This allowed them "to spend more time with our guests."

A Water's Edge Gazebo afternoon wedding ceremony was followed by a Reception Dinner and dancing under the stars at Neptune's on the Bay. An hour's cocktail reception with passed hors d'oeuvres followed by a sumptuous Caribbean buffet and a dessert of wedding cake were enjoyed by all. Then came dancing … well into the evening …

Katie says her favorite Pelican Bay Wedding Memory was "when the DJ and bartenders offered to extend our reception because everyone was having such a good time."

The experience was "such a wonderful one that our group of family and friends got to know one another over the four days resulting in lifelong memories and friendships," reminisced Katie.
