Don't just take our word for it ... read what a few
of our recent couples have said about their Pelican Bay Hotel Wedding
Experience:
Marva,
My daughters wedding was held at Pelican Bay and
I wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with some feedback on how
everyone in attendance felt about the event and the staff, service and resort
in general.
Fantastic, fabulous, wonderful, perfect, totally
professional, fun, accommodating, beautiful, are but a few of the words I could
use to describe the event, staff and resort.
My daughter had the wedding
of her dreams at Pelican Bay.
As I am sure you understand very well, the
people you work with are the key to success in any business and I can say that
you are truly blessed to work with some of the very very best.
Everyone
and I mean everyone we worked with and encountered, be
they housekeeping, wait staff to bartenders were truly professional and always
friendly and helpful.
Marve Munroe and Harcourt Rolle were very key
players for the event and in guest accommodations Marve is truly amazing
to have worked with my daughter via email and telephone in the planning
of the event and for the event to then come off perfectly speaks volumes for
her professionalism, dedication and attention to detail. Mr Rolle, who was our
event coordinator the evening of the reception was omnipresent along with his
staff in the background but totally on top of everything going on. He is
also, according to my wife, an excellent dancer.
The resort itself
provided an wonderful back ground for the event and for our guests, all of whom
had a wonderful time. Food was excellent, service superb, and rooms perfect for
us. The beach location for the ceremony was beautiful and even a small rain
shower did nothing to distract from the joyous occasion. Pelican Bay was an
outstanding value.
Your staff and all the great people of the Bahamas
truly lived up to and exceeded an already very deserved reputation for being a
friendly and happy people. My wife, daughter, her new husband and our guests
cannot thank all of you enough for treating us so well and making the wedding
an event to remember.
Please express to all our sincerest thank
you from our hearts
.
We will be back and will recommend
Pelican Bay at every opportunity.
All the best
.
PS. I have
to say being Chief of Happiness at Pelican Bay in the
Bahamas might just be one of the best jobs in the world!!!!

Both my
husband and I would like to thank you and all the staff at Pelican Bay Hotel
for the spectacular job you did in regard to Stefanie and Jordan's
wedding.
From the moment we arrived, it seemed no one could do enough
for us and our guests. It started with the staff behind the front desk, the
doorman who took us shopping on his own time and everyone else. The suites were
charming and spacious.
Needless to say, you had your finger on
everything, making sure that nothing, and I mean nothing fell between the
cracks. Your assistant at the wedding, Marian was very helpful and
accommodating.
The decorations around the pool were breathtaking. When
Stefanie sent you pictures for the tables and flowers and said this is what she
had in mind, You didn't just do something similar, you did exactly what she
asked for. The flowers that Katie did were exactly as in the pictures that
Stefanie had sent. They were spectacular. Everyone made comments about the
flowers and the colors. Julie made sure that the food was perfect and it was,
there was enough Prosecco and the bartenders were gracious to serve the John
Powers Irish Whiskey we brought down. Harcourt (I am sure I misspelled his
name) was perfect and also couldn't have been more accommodating. Needless to
say, the whole weekend was a success. Thank you for recommending the restaurant
on the beach for the prenuptial/rehearsal dinner. Again a super find. Changing
the Sunday brunch to Sabor - fabulous!
Marva, we cannot rave enough
about the wedding. Everyone loved it and said "how can this ever be topped"? We
are already saying that maybe next spring we should all come back and celebrate
their first year anniversary!
I know we will be back for
sure.
Again, thank everyone at Pelican Bay Hotel for a job more than
well done.
Best wishes, Jutta Stone
Dear
Marva and Pelican Bay Staff,
I want you to know how abundantly we
appreciate your hard work and dedication in making our wedding day the most
wonderful day of our lives! We and our guests were so pleased with the wedding
and reception, as well as our stay at the hotel. From the flowers, to the menu,
to the music, and the photography...we couldn't have asked for more.
Not
only that, but when I was having bridal worries due to the threat of Hurricane
Noel, you took the time to reassure me that all would be well and that we would
have a beautiful wedding day no matter what. Thanks to you (and the weather's
cooperation), we certainly did. I felt like a princess on my wedding
day.
Marva, your efforts to accomodate our budget, while not
compromising the intimate and lovely wedding setting is a true art. Your
commitment to ensuring that our wedding was a memorable and wonderful
experience exceeded our expectations.
I would also like to extend a
special thank you to Katie. She went above and beyond making sure our flowers
were beautiful--from personally delivering them to our exquisite suite, to
assisting with the the wedding photography and with the reception--she is an
absolute jewel!
We reflect on our wedding day with the warmest of
memories, and are so pleased that we were able to begin our marriage with such
a special experience. Words cannot express our sincere appreciation. We look
forward to visiting Pelican Bay for years to come!

"What a
great place to have a wedding!!" This hotel was great. It is very close to
Port Lucaya Marketplace. The Ferry to Taino is steps away from the hotel's main
pool. There are three pools and all are great. We stayed in a suite. It was
very nice. I recommend it as air conditioner is loud and the suite has a door
to the bedroom and when closed, drowns out most of the noise. The staff was
friendly and efficient. The free breakfast was O.K. There were many restaurants
open for breakfast in the marketplace if you want more than juice, coffee,
cereal, toast, bagels, hard boiled eggs, lunch meat and cheese. We were at the
hotel for my sister's wedding. The wedding was held at Spanish Beach. We took a
private ferry to this location. All arrangements were made by the hotel wedding
planner, Marva. Everything was beautiful.

"Pelican
Bay is the best place to stay I just returned from my trip to Freeport. I
stayed in Pelican Bay for my cousins destination wedding. The suites are great,
comfortable and clean. The people that work there from Stanley the bell man to
eleanor the front desk to I'm sorry I forgot his name but he was Head of
security. Everyone ensured that you had what you need, and went out of their
way to make things happen. This is the place to go for destination weddings. My
cousin had her wedding here, and it was the most beautiful wedding I have ever
been too. All details were great from music to ceremony to the food and
deserts. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. I took the water taxi to the beach and
pool I also recommend anyone to do this, the pool was great and the beach was
clean and very nice. This is the place to stay if you are going to Freeport.
And I also reccommend ZORBA'S RESTAURANT for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Food
was great and price was even better.
Thank you Pelican Bay Staff for the
great service you give.

Dear
Marva,
We just returned from our wedding/honeymoon at The Pelican Bay.
The whole thing was wonderful! A breakdown of the trip and wedding...
The hotel was even better than the pictures. We were upgraded to a
suite because we got married at Pelican Bay (our parents were also upgraded to
suites) The suites were gorgeous...it was hard to leave the room. The bed was
unbelievably comfortable, and the rest of the suite was beautiful and
comfortable. We loved the attention to details with fun artwork and interesting
furnishings (especially the hot air balloon chandelier). It was also great to
have a mini fridge in the room (incidentally all guest rooms have one) and we
loved the Espresso machine and morning pastry and New York Times Fax delivery
(only in the suites). One of the reasons we chose Pelican Bay was the variety
of rooms they offered. Four different price choices, with the rooms ranging
from a basic hotel room up to the suites. This was nice since we had guests who
wanted different options. The staff at the hotel was unbelievably nice and
helpful. One of the Bellmen, Gilbert, was especially helpful. He loaded us into
his golf cart when we needed to buy a large amount of stuff and even drove my
mom and grandmother to the Westin/Sheraton Spa one day!
The hotel has a
new restaurant, Sabor, which looks like a little pool bar with tables, but
looks are deceiving...the food was excellent! We had our rehearsal dinner there
and the food was delicious. We also ate there a few times after the wedding and
our favorite dish was the Sea Bass!
Pelican Bay has three
well-maintained pools and we were always able to find a spot to sit or an empty
pool to hang out in at night.
The ferry to the Ritz at Taino Beach is
well worth the trip. It's only a five minute ferry ride and the beach is
gorgeous and the pool was so cool...you can use all the facilities at the Ritz,
including the chairs and great straw umbrellas on the beach.
It was
great to be near Port Lucaya Marketplace. It was easy to walk over there for a
bite to eat or a drink. We loved Cally's for breakfast...tuna and grits were a
favorite. We also had two delicious meals at La Dolce Vita. The Bahamians do
great justice to the Italian food! We also had a great meal at La Med, and
Stoned Crab is worth a cab ride!
The Wednesday night Fish Fry was an
interesting experience. We came with a group of 15 or so and finding seating
for all was difficult (moms and grandmas needed to sit!) The lines were very
long for food and it was sometimes hard to get service at the bar. That said,
it was perhaps the best fish I have ever eaten in my life! Also, the conch
fritters were unbelievable. The Guava Duff dessert was so delicious...my mouth
is watering just typing about it!
We're a really laid back couple who
didn't need every moment perfectly coordinated...we really wanted a low stress
fun weekend with our closest family and friends, and Pelican Bay definitely
provided that for us. We hope to return for an anniversary trip and we can't
imagine that we'd want to stay anywhere else!

"Best
wedding location! I just returned from my destination wedding at Pelican
Bay. I had approximately 100 guests attend. Everyone was extremely pleased with
the resort, their rooms and the service. The wedding planner, Marva and staff,
were very accommodating and made sure that my wedding was perfect and made sure
they personalized every detail. They went out of their way to ensure the
wedding was successful. I strongly recommend Pelican Bay for a destination
wedding and for anyone wanting to get away from the chaos of Nassau or Paradise
Island.

"Fabulous
Wedding at Pelican Bay Our wedding at Pelican Bay could not have been
more perfect. From my first contact with wedding coordinator Marva Munroe,
planning was a breeze. Having never visited the resort (or the Bahamas, for
that matter) and only going from reviews (all raves) of past clients, I was so
pleased that Marva was very patient with all of my questions and answered them
in detail.
When we arrived at Pelican Bay, we were treated like VIPs,
and I was very excited to see the ideas that I had relayed over email and the
phone were executed just as I had pictured. Our meetings with vendors were
brief but organized and to the point, which allowed us to spend maximum time
relaxing with our guests. Our guests loved the intimate feel of the resort. We
felt like it was all our own and the weekend was just for us, which would not
have been possible at a larger resort.
The Freeport area offers many
great activities, and Pelican Bay is a five-minute walk from a marketplace with
many great restaurants - Pisces and Zorba's are the best! I recommend that
brides go for the beach package, which includes a ferry ride to a secluded spot
right on the ocean for the ceremony. Neptune's Pool is harborside and is
perfect for the reception. The food and cake were fabulous, and the DJ was
fantastic. DJ Earl played a list of our requests and mixed in Bahamian music
that had the whole group dancing through the entire reception. Katie did a
wonderful job with flowers and decor, and our photography turned out
beautifully.
I cannot say enough great things about Marva and the whole
staff at Pelican Bay and hope to go back soon.

Beautiful
wedding at the Pelican Bay at Lucaya. My husband and I just returned from our
wedding at the Pelican Bay hotel. The wedding was fantastic, thanks to the
wedding coordinator, Marva Munroe, and her staff. The hotel was very cute and
unique. The staff was energetic and fun. I had such a great time chatting with
the cheeky receptionists! We hosted our rehearsal dinner at Sabor, the ceremony
at Spanish Beach and the reception at Neptune's pool. The food served at
Pelican Bay is excellent and our reception was beautiful. We hired Wilfried
Solomon and the Magnetics for the reception. They kept us all dancing all night
long, even though it was exceptionally hot that night. I recommend this hotel
for quick getaway, a family reunion or a wedding!!

Dear
Marva,
Thank you again for a wonderful wedding weekend. Everything was
above and beyond our highest expectations, and we cannot thank you enough for
making our wedding weekend so special, not just for us but for our family and
friends. Planning a wedding from afar and at a location sight unseen was a bit
daunting at times, but you were not only patient with my bridal worries, but
calming and reassuring. Needless to say there was no need for even a second of
worry as everything was amazing. Our family and friends are still talking about
what a great time they had, and I assure you you'll see many of them back at
the hotel very soon. Lucaya and Pelican Bay has become a new favorite spot to
vacation!
The reception at the Ferry House was, like everything else,
wonderful. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We laugh at how
many of the pictures our family and friends have sent us are of their meals and
deserts. Our guests loved the restaurant, and people are still talking about
how good the food was!
The flowers were beautiful. I can't get over how
with one picture and a mention of my favorite flowers you were able to create
such beautiful and memorable centerpieces and bouquets. They were perfect!
Above all though it was the friendly service of the staff of Pelican
Bay that made our weekend so special. Everyone went above and beyond to welcome
us and make us feel at home. It was a truly special weekend.
Thank you
again Marva for all of your hard work to make our wedding weekend so very
memorable. Your professionalism and talent are, as far as we are concerned,
beyond compare.
We will be seeing you again soon! All the
best, Colleen and Greg
Hello
Marva -
I hope this email finds you well. I am sorry I have not written
sooner, but time seems to have gotten away from me. I am finally getting
settled in after all the wedding preparations and celebrations.
What can
I say, Meredith and Joe's dream wedding celebration weekend was a fairytale.
The weather was absolutely beautiful, no humidity and constant sunshine. We
were so lucky everyone arrived safe and sound and returned home without
difficulties as well. The wedding at the Neptune Pool was just a sight to
behold, and I felt the ceremony setting just added to the vows and readings put
together by Meredith and Joe. The magistrate was outstanding and everyone was
so impressed with her composure and how she made us feel as if she really knew
the bride and groom. The Ferry House was just beautiful, and of course the
flowers were amazing and beyond our wildest dreams.
Thank you for making
Meredith's dream wedding come true and for all your time and effort spent
communicating through email - it worked. There is not one thing we would have
changed. The band was terrific, the cake just what the bride ordered. I want to
tell you how wonderful your staff were to my guests, especially my parents.
Dominique was so efficient, and Stanley an enormous help. The girls at the
front desk were always pleasant and so helpful to all.
Meredith's goal
was to have a wedding with her dearest family and friends - everyone cannot
stop talking about their wedding experience-for many, including myself, it was
a first destination wedding. I truly was not concerned once I visited Pelican
Bay last July, and saw how you take each wedding to heart and try to make
everyone's vision a reality. So thank you for helping to give my daughter and
son-in-law a beautiful beginning to what we all hope is a happy and healthy
life together. Please extend my thanks to all the staff, including Patty who
was a great service for getting to and from the airport.
With warmest
regards, Phyllis Albert
Dear
Marva and Staff of Pelican Bay,
Thank you so very much for a perfect
wedding! Despite weather challenges, we had a beautiful outdoor ceremony and
reception. Katie's flowers were gorgeous, even better than the photo sample I
sent.
The food and service at the reception were outstanding, thanks to
Freddy and his team. Our guests had a great time dancing at the reception and
everyone especially loved the steel pan player.
We can't thank you
enough for making our wedding a truly memorable event.
Very
sincerely, Amanda and Kevin Salt
Hi
Marva!!
I wanted to take the time to drop you a line...and sincerely
thank you for all of your hard work in preparing our wedding. Truly, truly, it
was the best wedding we've ever attended! We had so much fun; we remember
(almost) everything about the entire day, and I don't think it would have been
so easy if you weren't there to take care of all the details for us. I would
have been overcome with stress and anxiety, but knowing that I had a team of
experts getting everything set up and prepared for us made me able to relax and
ENJOY every moment.
Each of our guests made it a point to come to us
and tell us what an amazing time they were having, and then thanked us for
including them. They all said it was the perfect wedding; that they couldn't
have imagined it better, and they were very impressed with the way it all came
together! All of these compliments I must extend to you as well; it was all
your doing that created such a great, impressionable atmosphere.
We also
want to send our compliments to the chef. All night long, people kept raving
about the buffet...and it's true, the food was absolutely the best wedding food
EVER! I think one of our groomsmen ate about 18 lobster tails...
The
photographs came out beautifully, and I'm in the process of getting everything
together to begin our "destination scrapbook." He did a great job capturing the
ceremony and the photo from the balcony was the perfect photo for our event.
Please extend my gratitude to him for giving us such wonderful visual
memories!
I must say, the flowers were probably my favorite part...You
and Katie did an amazing job translating my email description into the most
beautiful bouquets! Flowers, everywhere, were another favorite topic of
conversation among our guests, and they look amazing in the photos too. (I'm
drying my bouquet as we speak and will be framing it as soon as it's all
flattened out!) THANK YOUagain for making my floral fantasies a
reality!
Marva, you have a great, great talent in being able to plan
multiple events simultaneously; and being able to do that while exceeding our
expectations is a major talent in itself. You are an amazing woman! Thank you
so much for giving us the perfect wedding atmosphere. We had an AMAZING time
and will remember it forever!
Have a merry, merry holiday
season!
Warm Regards, Alisa & James McCulloch

Marva Munroe Subject: thank you
Hello Marva, I just wanted to
say thank you so much for all you did to make R.J. and Alison's wedding
perfect. Everyone that you hired to participate was wonderful and the
rehearsal, wedding, and reception ran so smoothly, even with the last minute
rain, you had everything in order. The hotel staff was very friendly and
helpful and some of our guests are planning another vacation trip there. We
were so fortunate to have you and Pelican Bay Hotel make our arrangements at
such a special and happy time.
Thank you again, Gayle
"Thank
you Marva for making my daughters vision come true!
I know you
worked very hard, and I appreciated your last minute effort, to even find a
runner for the bride, by the Chuppah!!
Eleanor and Sean and all their
friends had the best best time. Thank you for making this special event so
memorable.
Kindly also send my best regards, to Patty (driver), she is
a lovely lovely lady.
Best Regards, Silvana New York, N.Y.
"The
Pelican Bay at Lucaya and Pelican Bay Suites is a first-class hotel any way you
look at it. We recently had the pleasure of having our wedding at the hotel
this past April. It was everything we could have dreamed. Our guests were met
with exquisite accommodations, superior service, outstanding dining and
glorious surroundings. Our wedding reception was held at the Ferry House
restaurant located at the entrance to the Suites. We booked this venue site
unseen and boy were our expectations exceeded. The ambience, service, food and
presentation were impeccable. Our wedding coordinator, Marva Monroe, was
absolutely wonderful to work with and left no detail unfinished. Our
destination wedding turned out to be absolutely perfect and we have the Pelican
Bay at Lucaya's Staff to thank for it." Julie & Tom Eastwood

Marva,
thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts, for everything that you did for
Bob and I this weekend. It was exactly as we wanted. WHAT A WONDERFUL
WEEKEND. I wouldn't change a thing. Thinking of you with great fondness.
We will find an excuse to get back down to your neighborhood soon and I
will be bragging about your resort and services. Mrs. Kathie Kidder

Dearest
Marva,
This note is being sent to you today, not as just another
THANK-YOU note for a job so beautifully performed and well deserving of
praise.
But rather, it is written with much more purpose. It tells you,
Marva, that you are such a special woman with such a beautiful soul
within.
Your kindheartedness, genuiness, and quiet but strong mannerism,
are but only a few of your "gifts" that "God" has molded you with! We are quite
sure that your Employer is quite aware of your fine qualities.
But no
salary can ever pay enough for an individual, who not only adds CLASS to his
establishment, but has such a heart of gold in making every moment, and every
wish of all his guests stay her most important agenda. We could not ever THANK
YOU enough, not only for making our stay here at Pelican Bay a most fantastic
vacation/honeymoon.
But also for making our Wedding Day come to be far
more than we had ever anticipated.
We are so proud and so thankful to
you for honoring us in witnessing our wedding vows.
Thank you so much
for that gift of being there! Again Our deepest gratitude for
everything,
Love, Mr. and Mrs. David Dow Meriden, CT.
As my
1-year wedding anniversary approaches, it warms my heart to remember and
reflect on the wonderful wedding vacation my husband and I shared at the
Pelican Bay Hotel in the Bahamas, March 2002, with our family and friends.
From the moment we arrived on the island, we were graciously received by
hotel management and staff, and instantly made to feel as if we were visiting
life-long friends at their magnificent island home. We were not
surprised to find that the cheerful colors of the charming village-like
architecture, along with the beautifully appointed property, provided the
perfect setting for our intimate party of 30 during their stay in preparation
for our big day. Even more, I found the exotic class and style of our
suite an ideal retreat for me between all the planning meetings and
entertaining of our guests. Marva, at the hotel, took care of us as
if we were a part of her own family, and with the help of her team at Pelican
Bay, made sure we had a wonderful wedding, a wonderful stay and memorable
experience. It was our first time visiting the Grand Bahama Island,
and we can't wait until we're able to go back and visit the friends we made
there! Thank you, Marva and everyone at Pelican Bay, for our PERFECT
wedding!
